The shop curtain out front was painted by the chef's grandmother, a calligraphy teacher marking her grandson's leap into independence. Inside, it's a soba shop with counter seating that carries over from his years cooking kappo, and the mood is unhurried and warm. The meal moves through conger eel jelly and duck stew before arriving at 100% buckwheat noodles milled in-house, with tempura fried to order alongside. A Michelin Bib Gourmand.
