    Dark green walls with rose gold panelling give this Ascot restaurant its look, which hovers somewhere between country house and cocktail bar without fully committing to either. Modern European cooking is the draw, with confident technique and combinations that actually make sense together. You can sit by the fire pit in the main room or take the lighter conservatory, and the service team seem to genuinely enjoy themselves, which helps.
