A 19th-century mansion tucked into the Jardim Botânico neighborhood, at the foot of Corcovado, this boutique hotel is the quieter, leafier answer to Rio's beachfront towers. Suites open onto terraces overlooking the pool and garden, with Guanabara Bay in the distance. The garden itself was designed by the office of Roberto Burle Marx, which gives the whole property a pastoral weight that's hard to manufacture. The Michelin Guide has selected it.
