Herzog & de Meuron designed the building, which tells you immediately this isn't the usual DC hotel playing dress-up in neoclassical marble. The Conrad is a luxury hotel sitting above CityCenterDC, with interiors by Rottet Studio that feel genuinely considered rather than generically plush. Estuary does Chesapeake Bay flavors downstairs, and the rooftop bar Summit has the kind of panoramic view that makes visitors feel briefly important.
