Tucked into the Gothic Quarter inside the Wittmore hotel, Contraban runs a contemporary restaurant built on classical French technique, with a menu the kitchen frames around emotions: freedom, surprise, frustration. Whether the cod fritters care about feelings is an open question, but the indoor terrace is genuinely atmospheric in the way only old-city spaces manage. Weekend brunch, too, if you need somewhere to sit with your complicated morning.
