    A former royal villa on the Adriatic waterfront, just outside Dubrovnik's old town, the Excelsior is the kind of hotel that has hosted Queen Elizabeth II and Elizabeth Taylor and seems unsurprised by the whole thing. Rooms across both buildings run contemporary, with spa-like bathrooms stocked with L'Occitane. Three restaurants, an indoor pool, and a rocky-beach perch give guests every reason to stay put once they've arrived.
