Sitting on Piazza della Repubblica, Florence's great central square, Hotel Savoy is a Forbes Five Star property where the lobby and terrace bar got a color-drenched refresh from Laudomia Pucci, of that Pucci family. Rooms follow an Olga Polizzi design with proper views over the piazza. It's old-school grand on the outside and sharply contemporary inside, which sums up what this city keeps trying to do with itself.
