    The old Pacific Building facade dates back forever, but the rooms inside have been quietly modernized with pops of color and calm, residential warmth. This hotel sits at 4th and Market, which is as close to the center of San Francisco as a pin on a map gets, with Union Square, SoMa, and Chinatown all walkable. Dirty Habit, the in-house cocktail bar and restaurant, handles dinner well enough that you might not wander far on your first night.
