  1. Kemuri Tatsu-ya

    BBQ Japanese

Cowboy boots and whiskey bottles share shelf space with teapots and lanterns, which tells you everything about what Kemuri Tatsu-ya is trying to do. It's a casual izakaya and BBQ shop where brisket comes in a sesame-pecan rub and taiyaki gets stuffed with corn bread, and somehow none of it feels like a gimmick. Most dishes land in the middle of the table, so bring people. The Michelin Guide awards it a Bib Gourmand.

    Four honors, in evidence:

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. It runs on the scored places nearby: more good stuff within reach, higher score. If it looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
