    The woodwork and tilework in this 1938 Bauhaus building have never been touched, which makes the dark contemporary interiors feel like a deliberate argument rather than a renovation. Morgan & Mees is a 20-room hotel on Mathenesserlaan, with a rooftop terrace and a bar-restaurant that draws a crowd that didn't arrive by tour bus. Nieuwe Binnenweg's galleries and coffee shops are right outside, so the neighborhood does half the work.
