A teak house on the Thonburi bank of the Chao Phraya, built in the 1890s for a senior official of King Rama V, restored over seven years to keep its latticed shutters, original staircases, and hybrid Thai-European bones intact. This boutique hotel has just four rooms, each named after a local animal, opening onto a garden where a century-old lychee tree holds court. Breakfast comes on a deck over the water, and Wat Arun is a short walk away.
