Nikomi Kimura

The name is half the menu: nikomi means stew, and a Japanese-style house in Tanimachi is where you come to eat them. Beef tendon with konnyaku, sukiyaki-style tofu, chicken meatballs, and in winter, a pot of oden, all cooked by a chef whose idea of showing off is making simple food taste like someone's mother made it. Macaroni salad and gratin turn up alongside everything else, and no one seems to mind the category confusion.
