Two beautifully preserved Georgian townhouses in the New Town, and the hotel inside them resists every temptation to drape tartan over everything. Nira Caledonia is a boutique hotel where the décor nods to Scotland without cosplaying it, and the spiral staircase does the work an elevator would ruin anyway. Blackwoods, the in-house restaurant, pours from a collection of over 25 Scotch whiskies, including the hotel's own bottle.
