    A hotel at the southwest corner of Kyoto's imperial palace complex, where the rooms take a deliberate back seat to views of the gardens outside. The 81 rooms run to blonde wood and eggshell tones, and each comes with an individually sourced art piece. Staff will finagle a last-minute reservation or sprint out with an umbrella before you think to ask. Warm minimalism, not the cold kind.
