1. Oakland Flea Market

    Every weekend a sprawling outdoor food market pops up near the Oakland Flea, and it's the kind of place where you wander in for one taco and resurface an hour later with carnitas by the pound and no regrets. The al pastor trompo alone is worth the trip, and the gorditas stuffed with slow-cooked guisados taste like somebody's abuela runs the operation, because somebody's abuela probably does.
