A salmon-pink flour factory bolted onto an 18th-century Baroque palace on the banks of the Douro: that's the hotel, and somehow it works. Contemporary rooms sit steps from gilded halls of mirrors, and the terrace pool hangs above the river with boats drifting past and wooded hills beyond. A couple of miles from Porto's historic center, but the breezy riverside calm feels like the right speed for this city anyway.
