RingSide is a white-tablecloth steakhouse where the onion rings arrive piping hot and the martinis arrive cold enough to pass for a legal argument. The bar is sunken and dimly lit, with little booths made for settling in, and the Blazers are usually on, losing quietly. The menu runs to three kinds of Japanese Wagyu and a wine list the size of a hymnal. It also holds AAA Three Diamonds. Dress like you're staying.

    The dishes from the writeups

    • Onion rings

“It’s the perfect foil for the city’s best onion rings—for 80 years running, still piping-hot with little drip-drips of sacred oil anointing the white tablecloths.”

      Portland Monthly
    • Lobster mashed potatoes

“Where else can you choose from three kinds of Japanese Wagyu, six different steak sauces, a Brobdingnagian impressive wine list, and lobster mashed potatoes, all while watching the Blazers lose among your fellow Portlanders?”

      Portland Monthly
    • Prime rib

“House favorites include bone-in steaks and slow-roasted prime rib.”

      AAA
    • Jumbo shrimp cocktail

“serves legendary onion rings, sizzling steaks on hot cast irons, wedge salads and jumbo shrimp cocktails.”

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
