This low-rise Ritz-Carlton resort on the edge of Doha is designed to resemble a traditional Qatari village, whitewashed villas threaded together by courtyards and gardens, with a Royal Villa standing in for the sheikh's palace. Arrival means Arabic coffee and dates before you're shown to one of the rooms fanned across the sprawling complex, the city skyline visible but comfortably far away.
