    The basement spa used to be the Reserve Bank's gold bullion vault, and the walls are still thick enough to kill your phone signal. As a hotel, SO/ Auckland goes full theatrical everywhere else too: all-black lobby, red armchairs, a Marcel Wanders chandelier, interiors by local fashion label WORLD. Rooms lean into Auckland's volcanic palette, and some face the harbour with double-wide tubs to match.
