A sculptural timber building on the Katajanokka waterfront, designed by Anttinen Oiva Architects, sets the tone before you've even checked in. This hotel smells faintly of pine, which turns out not to be a gimmick but a side effect of all that pale wood inside. Finnish art, sea views from many rooms, a sauna, and a rooftop terrace keep you from leaving, which is probably the point.
