    A crimson Victorian townhouse tucked into a cul-de-sac off St. James's Street, this boutique hotel is part of a German luxury group quietly doing a convincing impression of a nineteenth-century gentlemen's club. The sixty rooms are snug but deeply comfortable, and the real atmosphere pools in the small side-rooms and antechambers, where the conspiratorial hush feels less decorated and more inherited. The bar and a fine dining restaurant round things out.
