    A tucked-away hotel on a quiet lane off Piccadilly, The Stafford London splits its rooms across a Victorian main house, a former royal stable yard, and a newer mews building with contemporary furnishings, so no two stays feel quite the same. The American Bar at the back is a tchotchke-lined room that takes its gin fizzes seriously. It holds a Forbes Four Star rating and the kind of hush that St James's does better than anywhere.
