    The building has a long history and at least one dubious former owner, which the current team seems to find more amusing than embarrassing. This is a neighborhood French restaurant in a graceful old adobe, with outdoor firepits good for cocktails before you settle in. The menu is small and ingredient-driven, leaning French with Italian detours, and the cooking favors substance over flash. Linger for dessert; the after-dinner drinks list gives you a reason to.
