Silk curtains, monogrammed seatbacks, and a glassed-in conservatory make the name almost a prank, but The Sardine Factory is a white-tablecloth seafood institution that has been doing fine dining since before fine dining needed to be ironic about it. The menu runs from crispy sand dabs to lobster ravioli in cream sauce, the bread basket is generous, and the staff treats the whole production with genuine ceremony. Bring a relative who remembers when this was the move.
