A bright plastered wall stands out in this narrow Arakicho alley before the chef waves you inside. This is an intimate omakase sushi counter where the meal moves deliberately from delicate white-fleshed fish through tuna to richer conger eel, the progression doing the talking. Snacks are unfussy, sashimi and grilled bites before the sushi begins. The shop is named for the chef's grandmother, which is a gentler origin story than most places in Shinjuku can claim.
