Onion-shaped lamps hang from the ceiling, which is not a coincidence: "tamanegi" is Japanese for onion, and the bulb turns up in both Italian and French cooking, which maps neatly onto this couple. She trained in Piemonte; he came up through French restaurant wine programs. The result is a small, husband-and-wife Italian restaurant in Nishi-ku running hand-rolled pasta and free-range beef alongside organic pours.
