The Astro Motel

The neon sign out front dates to 1963, and the bones of this mid-century motor lodge are still intact, even after a thoughtful renovation brought it into the present. It sits on Santa Rosa Ave, which means you get the urban, workaday side of wine country rather than the manicured version, with the Sonoma Valley wineries and restaurants still close enough to make the whole trip work. Michelin's Selected Hotels lists it.
