It's a boutique hotel, designed by a Brooklyn firm, whose rooms channel the area's old gambling-den energy through colonial-era furniture and details that stop just short of gilded excess. The open-plan Chow Kit Kitchen and Bar anchors the ground floor with a pan-Malaysian menu and a crowd that isn't all guests.
