    Jugendstil curves meet 1980s graphic boldness in the rooms here, velvet and polished lacquer doing a surprising amount of heavy lifting together. The Dean Munich is a design hotel on Landsberger Strasse that pulls off a trick most "hip" hotels only attempt: the aesthetic feels thought through rather than assembled. A Japanese restaurant and an all-day lobby bar round out the picture for guests who'd rather not leave the building any sooner than necessary.
