1. The Fort Garry Hotel

    If you're going to stay somewhere in Winnipeg, stay somewhere with a story. The Fort Garry is a grand château-style hotel that's been around forever, all marble floors and chandeliers and ceilings so high you feel underdressed just walking through the lobby. Rooms have that old-world woodwork and vintage detail with genuinely comfortable beds. The Palm Room does live jazz and seasonal Manitoba cooking under a domed ceiling, which is a pretty good Friday night by anyone's measure.
