    A Gothic palazzo on the Grand Canal, the Gritti Palace has been hosting the conspicuously well-heeled since before the Renaissance, and it shows, in the best way. Antiques, hand-carved details, and 18th-century wooden lamps fill every corner of the restored interior. During Carnival or the Biennale, A-listers share the lobby without much fanfare.
