Jean Nouvel designed this boutique hotel around a single conceit: every room's ceiling is a film still, enlarged and projected above you while you sleep. The selections run toward European art-house and the mildly racy, so expect Bertolucci overhead rather than a mountain vista. Studios and suites only, done in dark wood, steel, and earthy tones, with teak floors and theatrical lighting. Traditionalists wanting Alpine charm will find it elsewhere in Lucerne; everyone else gets a genuinely odd, stylish room.
