The bar at this Cotswold gastropub was built from reclaimed church panels, which tells you something about the seriousness of the refurbishment. Flagstone floors, lime plaster walls, and heavily beamed ceilings survived intact, and tankards of Black Velvet now get poured from a 1920s pewter oyster bar. The menu runs from prawn cocktail to something more considered, with a daily blackboard filling the gaps. Sunday roasts, with a few quiet twists, draw a crowd that plans ahead.
