    A black glass tower at Columbus Circle, right where Midtown meets Central Park, and a Forbes Five Star hotel that takes the personal-attaché thing as a given rather than a talking point. The 176 rooms come with floor-to-ceiling windows and a lot of marble, and the park views feel like a private arrangement rather than a lucky coincidence. Gilded bathroom fixtures and Christofle trays set the decorative register pretty clearly.
