    A giant purple W hangs above the entrance, which tells you more or less everything about this hotel's commitment to subtlety. Inside, postmodern décor mixes antique-style pieces with contemporary furnishings across buzzing public spaces, while the rooms themselves turn surprisingly calm and plush, with bathrooms that steal the show. An outdoor pool, spa, gym, and a handful of bars and restaurants, including a contemporary Thai restaurant in a detached neoclassical house next door, fill out the rest.
