The best things to do in Middleburg, according to the experts: Vogue and Washingtonian have both weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Salamander Spa comes out on top.
More Less
Every Little Something and Federal & Black hold the next two places. Washingtonian shows up on more of this list than any other guide, with Vogue next.

The steam room runs so thick with vapor it reads as sensory deprivation, and the experiential shower has a tropical-storm setting that does exactly what you'd expect. This full-service spa at the Salamander resort in Virginia horse country covers the full range, from salon blowouts to soaking tubs to a private outdoor pool, with tepidarium chairs for the aftermath. Vogue named it one of the 100 Best Spas in the World, which the riding-boot crowd already knew.
