The best hotels in Beirut, according to the experts: the Michelin Guide and The 50 have both weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Arthaus Beirut comes out on top.

The family lived here for generations before deciding, reasonably, that four Ottoman buildings and some Roman ruins underfoot was a lot to keep to themselves. Now a high-end boutique hotel on bohemian Gouraud Street, Arthaus carries a permanent art collection and hosts exhibitions alongside a cocktail bar with DJs, a pool, and a little spa. The rooms wear rough stone walls and vintage furniture without making a fuss about it.

A 1930s mansion in the upscale Achrafieh district, the Albergo is a classic luxury hotel with thirty individually decorated suites ranging from Oriental fantasy to Parisian chic, all with marble bathrooms and jacuzzi tubs. The ninth-floor terrace, with its sweep of rooftops out to the Mediterranean, makes it very hard to leave. The hotel's own French restaurant gives the neighborhood, already thick with good options, something to consider.
