The pizza lands somewhere between New York and Naples, and the caesar and focaccia sandwiches are legitimately good enough to carry the meal on their own. The room is bright and roomy, and the crowd is the kind of Fremont regulars who look pleased with themselves for knowing about it, which, fair enough.

A proper Texas BBQ joint run by a former tech guy who clearly went too far down a rabbit hole and never came back. The brisket is the move, smoked low and slow until the bark is almost black and the inside melts. He drives an hour just to get the right bread for the chopped beef sandwich, which tells you everything about the obsession level here. The crowd is flannel-and-work-boots Fremont mixed with people who just Googled "best brisket Seattle."
