The Top 12 Bakeries in Mexico City

The best bakeries in Mexico City, by the professional record: MexBest, The Infatuation, and Eater have all weighed in, and their honors are what rank this list. Panadería Rosetta comes out on top.

Saint and Panadería Gala hold the next two places. The Infatuation shows up on more of this list than any other guide, with MexBest next.

  1. Elena Reygadas runs this snug European-style bakery in Roma Norte, and the guava and ricotta Danish alone explains the line out the door. In a city where the standard pan dulce leans dry and margarine-heavy, the pastries here pull from an Italian-inflected pantry: airy conchas, chocolate-glazed donuts, focaccia, rustic loaves. Come early, order a coffee, then pick up a box to take to a park.

  2. The smell of fresh pastry settles the question before you've read the menu. Bakers is a coffee-and-bakery spot on the Roma Norte and Condesa border, with a sleek wood-paneled interior and sidewalk seating that slows the morning down. Everything is made in-house, baguettes lined up on the back shelves and a pastry case full of viennoiserie. The guava and cheese cruffin, when it's around, is an argument for staying in the neighborhood all day.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. It runs on the scored places nearby: more good stuff within reach, higher score. If it looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
