The Best Places in Endoume & around

  1. Rank 1. Le Petit Nice

    Mediterranean Seafood

The dining room sits a few metres from the water, and that proximity is the whole premise: Gérald Passédat holds three Michelin stars and builds his fine dining menu almost entirely around what the Mediterranean gives up on any given day, over 65 species across the seasons. Sauces come from the heads and cooking juices; nothing gets wasted. The set menu devoted to his take on bouillabaisse is the move, and the sea view makes you feel like it ordered the food.

  2. Rank 2. Auffo

    Modern Seafood

Picture windows over the Mediterranean, the Château d'If floating in the distance, and a Michelin-starred kitchen buying its catch directly from local fishermen. Auffo is a seafood-forward modern restaurant perched above the Vallon des Auffes, where the chef builds vegetable and seafood dishes around sauces that do most of the talking, including a red wine bouillabaisse jus that rewrites the local brief. The room is calm, neutral, and quietly serious.

  3. All 19 rooms face the water at this boutique hotel on Marseille's Corniche, close enough to the sea that the Michelin Guide felt compelled to remind guests not to dive from their balconies. The style borrows from Fifties modernism, which mostly means it's calmer and sunnier than you'd expect from a city hotel. The Vieux-Port is five minutes on foot, and there's a rooftop pool and spa for days when you'd rather not walk anywhere at all.

  7. Perched between the Corniche and the Mediterranean, this boutique hotel is Gérald Passedat's family vision of what Marseille luxury looks like, which turns out to be gold and lavender interiors, a hammam, a Japanese bath, a pool, and the sea a few steps beyond that. Two restaurants overlook the water, one bistronomic, one the flagship. The Michelin Guide awarded it one Key. Close enough to the city center to be convenient, quiet enough to feel like a different world entirely.

  12. Perched on a hill above the Old Port rather than planted in some glass tower downtown, this Sofitel shares a mid-century fortress of a building with the Novotel next door, though you'd need a keen eye to notice. The rooms are clean-lined and quietly luxurious without veering into gaudiness, the views are genuinely good, and the skylounge bar, bistro, and spa give you several ways to pretend Marseille isn't happening just outside.

  17. Rank 13. Peron

    Mediterranean Seafood

The dining room hangs over the rocks on the Marseille corniche, with the château d'If sitting in the bay like it's waiting for someone to escape. This seafood restaurant has been around forever, and the menu leans into the Mediterranean hard, with local catches, a proper bouillabaisse, and modern preparations of grouper and monkfish. Warm weather means tables outside, which is when the whole setup makes the most sense.

Eat Score

The score comes from the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin star outweighs a listicle. When you sort by what's nearby, distance changes the order, never the score.

      Stay Score

Four fifths of the score is the awards it's won, weighted by who gave them: a Michelin Key outweighs a listicle. The last fifth is where it is: the ranked places to eat and things to do around it, and how safe the country is. When you sort by what's nearby, distance from you changes the order, never the score.

          Best Place Score

The Best Place Score rates the area around a point, not any one place. The places are 60% of it: the best of what's within reach, weighed by distance. The setting is the other 40%: how life goes in that country (how people rate their own lives, how long and how well they live, how safe they are) and what it's like right there (the air, and the weather). If the score looks low, we probably haven't found enough critics out here yet.
