    The Jet d'Eau fills every lake-facing window, which is either the best selling point or the most Geneva thing imaginable, depending on your mood. This grand hotel on the Quai du Mont-Blanc has been absorbing history at an almost unreasonable rate: an empress died here, a nation was signed into existence in one of its salons, and Sotheby's once auctioned the Duchess of Windsor's jewels on the premises. It holds a Forbes Four Star.
