A speakeasy behind an unmarked door and karaoke at closing time is not what most boutique hotels lead with, but Citizen House isn't leading with most things. Michaelis Boyd fitted out three floors of a downtown tower in electric blues and mismatched patterns, and the sixteen apartment-style rooms feel more like borrowed residences than hotel suites. Corner rooms catch the skyline and the National Memorial through wraparound windows.
