A century-old elevator and the original wooden staircase survived the conversion, which says something about the priorities here. This 50-room hotel sits in Madrid's Literary Quarter, close enough to the Prado, Reina Sofía, and Thyssen-Bornemisza that you could do all three in a day, though you probably shouldn't. After dark, the tourists thin out and the bookshops and tapas bars belong to whoever stayed.
