    The oldest Ottoman house in Athens sits directly across the street, which gives Esse Athens its whole mood: a design-forward boutique hotel in Plaka that pairs herringbone floors and black marble with views that land squarely on the Acropolis. Suites have private verandas with open-air hot tubs, in case you need reminding where you are. Greek breakfast is served each morning, and the ancient monuments are a short walk through genuinely picturesque streets.
