The cellars here tunnel beneath a royal hunting estate, which tells you something about the scale of Fontanafredda's ambitions. This sprawling Langhe winery is best known for its Barolo, and visitors can walk the biodynamic vineyards, poke around the historic cellars, and work through tastings that lean heavily on Nebbiolo. It's the kind of place that takes most of an afternoon, which Piedmont generally rewards.
