    A neo-Baroque building on the Marktplatz, joined to a 1920s commercial neighbor in ways that produce some agreeably odd floor plans, houses this boutique hotel in Basel's old town. Murals, playful interiors, and corner suites with extra light make it feel more like a design project than a chain stop. The roof terrace looks over the old town, and e-bikes are on hand if you'd rather explore than admire. It holds a Michelin Key.
