A kappo restaurant named after the old word for this corner of Kyoto, which tells you something about the chef's intentions before you've even sat down. The menu bends to what you want, what the chef has, and apparently his mood, so every meal lands a little differently. The seafood sourcing is serious, the simmered dishes are the kind of thing you remember in winter, and the meal closes with sweets made by his wife.
