    Sitting in Aldea Zama rather than on the beach, this Kimpton resort threads the needle between Tulum's town and coast, which turns out to be a reasonable trade for the quiet. Rooms lean minimal, brightened by local craft details and Frette linens, with private jacuzzis in the specialty suites. Two pools, a spa with Mayan treatments, a yoga deck, and two modern Mexican-Asian restaurants on site, plus a beach club partnership for when sand is non-negotiable.
