    A classic ski chalet framed by the highest peaks in Europe, Le Hameau Albert 1er has been around forever and wears it well. It's a full-service luxury hotel with rooms in the main building done in restrained contemporary style, a farmhouse annex with fireplaces and spa baths, and a freestanding chalet sleeping six. The indoor-outdoor pool runs year-round, and service skews old-world rather than ski-bum seasonal.
