Sybille de Margerie's renovation turned an old-school Chamonix institution into something that manages Alpine warmth and Belle Époque bones without feeling like a museum. The hotel sits in one of France's most serious ski towns, so the rooms are properly comfortable, the Spa Clarins handles the après-ski damage, and Le Matafan takes care of dinner. Bose speakers and Nespresso machines signal the clientele; they are not here to rough it.
